Painting with Zaiya

‘I love to paint vintage cars and trucks reminiscent of a bygone era. In Creole we say letan lontan to talk about the good ol’ times.’

About Zaiya

Zaiya has loved to paint for as long as she can remember. It’s her way of expressing herself. She volunteered to teach art to children on the autism spectrum at a primary school in Triolet village. These days, she gets creative with the materials she uses: discarded coconut shells, used spoons and forks, old newspapers, straws that would otherwise likely end up in the ocean. You could say this upcycling is her way of doing her part. She loves to paint vintage cars and trucks, particularly the Bedford lorries which were traditionally used to transport the sugar cane from the fields to the factories.
