Life in the Sugarcane Fields is an immersive experience that invites you to discover Mauritius' sugarcane heritage through authentic encounters with local planters, traditional harvesting techniques and flavours inspired by the island's most iconic crop.
What does the experience include?
The experience includes an early morning bike ride, traditional sugarcane harvesting, a glass of freshly pressed fangourin, a 'tiffin'-style lunch with local planters and a rum cocktail workshop at SALT of Palmar.
When is the experience available?
The experience is available from June to September, during the sugarcane harvesting season, and operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, subject to availability.
What should I wear and bring?
We recommend bringing sunglasses, a sun hat, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes and hand sanitiser.
